The Nethercutt Museum in Los Angeles showcases more than 130 of the world’s greatest antique, vintage, classic and special interest automobiles. The collections are lovingly and beautifully presented; this is not your typical museum.

The 130 odd automobiles are split into four categories: Antique era, Vintage era, Classic era and Post-War era and includes many top winners of the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Also on display are automated mechanical instruments and automobile collectibles and antiques.

Japanese calligraphy


This exhibition organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art features stunning Japanese calligraphy and imagery from the three main groups of Japanese artists for whom calligraphy became a central means of expression: Zen and other Buddhist monks, literati, who modeled themselves after the educated Chinese elite, and aristocrats of the imperial line, who bore the responsibility for maintaining authentic Japanese artistic principles.

Calligraphy is one of the highest forms of artistry according to Chinese and Japanese aesthetics and can reveal the character of the writer.

The Oxnard Gem & Mineral Society proudly presents the 38th Annual Galaxy of Gems Expo at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center in November.

This year, the highlight of the event is the Moorpark Mammoth, “Emma”, the half-million year old Mammoth that was excavated near Moorpark in 2005. Other features include 70 display cases showcasing the talents and artistic skills of members and guest exhibitors with some of the displays and activities directed towards teaching students about the earth sciences.

Activities throughout both days of the event will include demonstrations of lapidary techniques, glass-bead making, wire wrapping and rock polishing. A silent auction will offer rock and mineral treasures.
