Hollywood sign

No trip to Los Angeles would be complete without a visit to the world famous "HOLLYWOOD" sign sitting on the top of Mt. Lee, the highest peak in the Los Angeles area.

Back in 1923 when the sign was first erected, it originally read "Hollywoodland" and was actually a huge advertisement for a housing development in the area. Since the last four letters were removed in 1945, the sign has become one of the world’s most evocative symbols.
