Superstars in their native Japan, The Yoshida Brothers are best known for their muscular reinvention of the ancient three-stringed instrument.

In a fusion of ancient and modern Japan - the brothers wear formal, ceremonial attire of kimonos but sports dyed light brown hair - the young Tsugaru-shamisen virtuosos will be playing the El Rey this month.

Eisley 'Combinations' Tour 2008

Texas five-piece rock band Eisley will embark on a 'Combinations' tour in support of their album of the same name in April/May.

The band consists of four siblings and a cousin and was formed in 1997. They released their sophomore album, Combinations, in August 2007 with the hit single "Invasion" getting considerable air play.

Eisley will be performing at the El Rey Theatre on May 15.

Throughout the tour they battle to get the word out about the state of the environment. This Rap n’ Roll battle culminates in a green carpet benefit concert in LA.

Rush is a Canadian rock band from the 60s and currently consists of frontman Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.

The band won over their legion of fans with their instrumental skills and complex compositions and have had a string of hit albums since their formation some 40 years ago. They continue to tour and make music to this day - their most recent and 18th studio album Snakes & Arrows was released in 2007.

Charlie Wilson and The Gap Band will open The Greek Theatre’s 2008 concert season on May 9 by bringing their legendary R&B funk and soul to the stage.

Wilson is an American R&B/soul singer and the lead vocalist for the famous 70s Gap Band - their heavily-charged dance anthems such as “You Dropped the Bomb on Me,” “Yearning for Your Love,” and “Party Train,” among others were hugely popular back in the day. The band is comprised of brothers Charlie, Ronnie and Robert Wilson who have remained together, enduring the good with the bad through the years.

Special guests for the evening include Keith Sweat, One Way featuring Al Hudson and The Emotions.

UK Indie rock band, The Kooks, were formed at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music by a group of students in 2004.

Since bursting onto the music scene, the group have had a string of Top 20 hits and award nominations including Best New Act at the 2006 Q Awards and are best known for their hit songs 'Naive', 'She Moves In Her Own Way', 'You Don't Love Me' and 'Ooh La'.

The Kooks are Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Paul Garred and Dan Logan and they will ably supported on stage by Californian band The Morning Benders.

KT's started her career singing in bands before finding fame as a solo artist with hit "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" from her debut album, Eye to the Telescope. One of her other worldwide smash hits is "Suddenly I see" as featured in soundtrack of motion picture The Devil Wears Prada.

Colombian rock musician, Juanes (Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez) has announced two shows at the Nokia Theatre in May for his latest studio album, La Vida... Es Un Ratico (Life... Is a Moment) which was released in October 2007.

The former member of heavy metal band Ekhymosis is a three-time Latin Grammy Award winner with platinum album sales throughout much of the Spanish-speaking world. His best known single, "A Dios le Pido" topped charts in twelve countries with album sales in excess of 10 million units.
